shell shockers – eject

Welcome to my Shell Shockers. A slew of interesting tips and tricks on using the Linux command line.

As many people may remember To eject  a cd from the cd drive you use the “eject” command.

it has been this way as long as I can remember.

but I never knew that it could be used for most any removable media.

with a flash drive plugged try doing a
sudo eject /dev/sdX’ where x is your drive letter.

notice that your media is nw unmounted.

now do the old “eject -t  /dev/sdX” (it is normally used to close the CD tray.) and you will notice that our device is freshly mounted

Enjoy!
